5 - 19 April: Celebrating science, creativity and conservation in our Blue Biosphere

The Marine Bioblitz Exhibit brings science and art together to celebrate the Sunshine Coasts' marine biodiversity.

In August 2024, citizen scientists worked alongside experts to collect biodiversity data on local marine species within the declared Sunshine Coast UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Over three huge days, an incredible 840 people participated in the Marine Bioblitz through workshops, dives and snorkels, along the coastline and up to 5kim offshore. Artist in residence Deb Mostert brought her renowned creative talent to document the ocean-loving action, whilst photographers and acoustic ecologists captured the on-shore, underwater and science-in-the-field activities.
