Explore Exciting Plants of the Coastal Strip

7 September: Join Tim Lang from Coolum Native Nursery to discover the incredible diversity of plants in the Sunshine Coast's wet and dry heathlands

Do you live close the coast?

The Sunshine Coast region is abundant in stunning and diverse heathland species, adapted to sandy soils and salt. Tim will share his passion for local flora, particularly wildflowers of coastal wallum environments. He will explore role of endemic plant diversity in supporting local fauna.

Tim Lang is the manager of Coolum Community Native Nursery, which was established in 2005 as a not-for-profit community centre to grow and promote coastal natives especially salt tolerant plants. Ideal for the Sunshine Coast, these plants require less water, fertiliser and maintenance than exotic plants or plants from other parts of Australia. In addition they provide valuable food and habitat for local wildlife while showcasing the unique character of the Sunshine Coast.

The nursery prides itself on the sourcing and weekly collecting of naturally occurring (wild) seed and cuttings. With approximately 150 species available to the public and commercial customers. The nursery is supported by active volunteers. Tim, along with co-workers and volunteers provide friendly practical advice on plant selection, care and maintenance at 157 Warran Rd, Yaroomba.
