Enjoy a cool shady stroll

Ephemeral Wetland Walk

400m creek-side stroll past a frog pond and ground orchids.

The ephemeral wetland walk is a short, relatively flat circuit.

The small creek is lined with piccabeen palms and flooded gums which creates a cool, shady contrast to the open eucalypt woodland.

In spring, see the swamp orchids in bloom, one of Australia's largest and most beautiful terrestrial orchids.

Visit the pond and try to spot tadpoles in the water or frogs and reptiles hiding in the vegetation.

The creek-side nature of the walk means the path is sometimes muddy and has a rough surface.

Conservation Significance

Conservation areas are important eco-islands of biodiversity.  Find out why the 82ha Maroochy Bushland is significant for our plants and animals to survive.
