Round Leaf Goodenia, Goodenia rotundifolia

A hardy groundcover with attractive yellow flowers.

Round Leaf Goodenia or Star Goodenia is a perennial herb found growing naturally in eucalypt woodlands and forests. It’s hardiness and year-round yellow flowers make it an attractive choice for gardeners seeking a resilient yet eye-catching groundcover. The Round Leaf Goodenia is also the host plant for caterpillars of the Meadow Argus butterfly, Junonia villida.

Description

The Round Leaf Goodenia is a low plant that spreads its runners over an area approximately 1m in diameter.  The plant has round, fleshy, hairy leaves with coarsely toothed edges. The five-petalled yellow flowers bloom over an extended period from spring to summer.

Growth requirements

The Round Leaf Goodenia grows best in sunny or partially shaded positions. It prefers well-drained soils but can adapt to most conditions, requiring low maintenance and infrequent pruning. It grows well as a groundcover under open shrubs and trees.
