Large-leaf Wilkea is an understory plant of dry and subtropical rainforests. Its large glossy leaves make this an attractive plant for shady areas including as an indoor pot plant. It is also host for caterpillars of the Regent Skipper Butterfly, Euschemon rafflesia.


Description

Large-leaf Wilkea is a sprawling shrub reaching 2-4 meters in height.  It has large, shiny, rigid green leaves, often with toothed edges. It forms perfumed yellow flowers from winter to spring followed by clusters of oval black fruit.


Growth requirements

This plant is an understory plant so enjoys shaded to partial sun positions.  It grows best in well-drained soils but is relatively adaptable. It is slow growing.
