What's on at the Wetlands Sanctuary

Find out what's happening at our sister site, Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary

Discover the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary this winter through the eyes of six passionate local artists.

From Saturday 27 June to Sunday 5 July, the Sunshine Coast Nature Sketchers group will be in residence. Led by Sophie Chegwyn and featuring Rhonda Stokoe, Peter Pomroy, Rae Bassett, Jenny Ritson and Kathy Pope, the group will collaborate in close observation of this unique environmental reserve, interpreting its seasonal secrets through their artistic practice.

The Sunshine Coast Nature Sketchers share a deep love for local ecosystems, bringing their nature journaling practice to life in site-specific studies. Working across individual styles and disciplines, they document seasonal change and biodiversity across the region. This residency will explore the wonders revealed by winter at the Wetlands Sanctuary—inviting visitors to slow down, observe closely, and connect with the natural world through intentional art practice.
