The Crenate Fanflower forms attractive rounded clusters and will spill over rock walls and edging. It is an extremely versatile groundcover and will grow well in both pots and garden beds. In favourable conditions it will flower for extended periods. The plant is also host for caterpillars of the Meadow Argus butterfly, Junonia villida.
Description
The Crenate Fanflower is fast growing but won't take over your garden. It is a compact native ground cover with small soft leaves and delicate light purple to pink fan-shaped flowers for most of the year.
Growth requirements
The plant thrives in sunny conditions with regular moisture and good drainage. It will also grow in partially shaded spots. Once established the plant is relatively low maintenance. It does not like extended dry periods and tends to produce fewer blooms in less optimal conditions.
