Tussock Grass, Poa labillardierei

Soft, graceful tussock-forming grass.

Soft, graceful tussocks that add texture and movement to gardens. This native grass looks great in mass plantings and provides great cover for many small fauna. Tussock grass is also the host plant for the Banded grass skipper – Toxidia parvulus.

Description

Perennial grass forming clumps to about 1 m tall and wide. Fine blue‑green leaves with delicate, feathery flower heads in spring–summer.

Growth requirements

An easy to grow, low maintenance plant. Prefers full sun to part shade and moist soils; but tolerates dry periods once established. Prune in late winter to encourage fresh new growth.
